Hawzah News Agency- the ISC ranking system, which is related to the Islamic World Scientific Citation Center, was established in 2009. In addition to ranking universities at the national level, this ranking started ranking universities and research institutions at the level of Islamic countries since 2013.

In 2018, the ISC ranking system for the first time conducted the ranking at the global level. According to this report, ISC evaluates and ranks the country's universities and research institutions based on 26 indicators, in the form of 5 general criteria of education, research, international activities, innovation and economic impact in a three-year period, part of the points related to different indicators with the use of information from reliable databases and some of them are calculated using the information received from the universities themselves; in the meantime, the University of Religions and Denominations was able to win the first place in education among non-profit universities.
